"Eingespielt wurde das Album im Sommer 1981 an nur einem Wochenende im Studio und mit teilweiser Verwendung von Livemitschnitten aus dem Frühjahr jenes Jahres. Heraus kam damals ein bahnbrechendes Dokument von rohem Lärm, welcher mit Tapeloops von Sprachsamples unterlegt wurde und zum Teil auch schon Ansätze vom Minimal Electro/Angst Pop aufweist, der durch NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS späteres Album "Songs Of Love And Revolution" noch bekannter wurde. Wenn mich später mal meine Tochter fragen sollte, was denn eigentlich Industrial ist, so werde ich ihr NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS oder SPK vorspielen. (...) Der Sound von "Fruiting Body" wurde für diese Wiederveröffentlichung übrigens direkt vom Original-Vinyl digitalisiert, da wohl die Bänder nicht mehr existieren und so der Klang authentisch bewahrt blieb."
